I am not aware that Sadie is an Arabic corruption of Sara because in Arabic, Sara is Sara. However, Sadie may have been the name Saadiyyeh = happy or bringer of happiness. This name would be difficult to teach to a non Arab and one can see it become simply Sadie or something like that. There may be other possibilities as well. I believe it possible that in old English or Gaelic the spelling could be quite different even if the phonetique is almost identic. My Mother and Grandmother were called Sadie.
It means princess.
I really love this name. It could also be an English form of the Arabic name Sadia (supposed to be pronounced sah-dee-uh, can be pronounced say-dee-uh too).
