Samira Azer gizi Efendiyeva, known as Samira Efendi or Efendi, is an Azerbaijani singer. She represented Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
Samira Said, is a Moroccan-Egyptian Arabic pop singer who is widely known in the Arab World. Samira Said was born in Rabat, Morocco. She began singing at the age of nine, and was discovered on the music program, Mawaheb, broadcast on Royal Moroccan TV, she then moved to Egypt where her fame around the Arab world begun. She has dual nationality of Morocco and Egypt; her resident home for 40 years as she moved to Cairo back on the year 1977. She has all her albums in the Egyptian dialect of Arabic but she also recorded some songs in the Moroccan dialect of Arabic, such as: "Kifash Tlakina", "Fayetli sheftek shi marra", "Sarkouh", and "Al Behhara". Her singles included "Maghlouba" and "Wa'ady". In 1980 she represented her native Morocco in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 singing a hit song within Egypt at that time called Bitaqat Hub, placing 18th out of the 19 contestants.
Samira Bellil was a French feminist activist and a campaigner for the rights of girls and women. Bellil became famous in France with the publication of her autobiographical book Dans l'enfer des tournantes in 2002. The book discusses the violence she and other young women endured in the predominantly North African and African immigrant outskirts of Paris, where she was repeatedly gang-raped as a teenager by gangs led by people she knew, and then abandoned by her family and friends. Her book is a portrayal of the predicament of young girls in the poor, outlying suburbs of French cities.
Samira Wiley is an American actress and model best known for playing Poussey Washington in the Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black. Wiley was raised in Washington, D.C. She is a graduate of Burgundy Farm Country Day School and The Juilliard School. Her parents, Christine and Dennis W. Wiley, are the co-pastors of Covenant Baptist United Church of Christ. Wiley's parents have been referred to as "pillars of the LGBT religious community," as the Covenant Baptist Church was the only Baptist church in Washington D.C. performing same-sex unions in 2007. She has two siblings: Aiyana Kai Ma'at and Joshua Wiley.
Samira Ahmed is a British freelance journalist, writer and broadcaster at the BBC, where she has presented Radio 4's PM, The World Tonight and Sunday. She also presented two Proms for BBC Four in 2011. On BBC Radio 3, Ahmed is one of the presenters of Night Waves.
Samira Ghastin Karamona, better known by her stage name Samira Tewfik is a Lebanese singer who gained fame in the Arab world for her specializing in singing in the Bedouin dialect of Jordan. She has also acted in a number of Arab films.
