In Yiddish, a “Shonda” means a Jew who brings shame to the Jewish people. In a way, I guess I’m sort of a Shonda myself. My name is Alexander. I am 31 years old, from New York City. I am Jewish on my mom’s side and was raised and identify as a Jew, and I am very proud of my Jewish faith and heritage. Nonetheless, I am also a die-hard fan of legendary British singer-songwriter and New Wave rock musician Elvis Costello, who is anti-Israel and supports the infamous BDS movement.
I read that Shonda came from Sanskrit from the root word Chanda. I read Shonda meant great goddess.
