I'm pretty sure that this is the word for 'help!' in Spanish. If not, it is very similar.

The Virgin Mary bearer of the name is in fact "La Virgen del Perpetuo Socorro". It's called in English "Our Lady of Perpetual Help", and it's the patron virgin of Haití (suitably so).

Socorro usually means help, but can also mean relief or succour (in case the commenter above was creating any doubts).
