Kind of cool but sounds a bit more like a surname to me. Would work quite nicely as a middle name.
Name of the day: June 4, 2021.
Sounds like Somer led something.
Strange, and weird. I don't really like it.
I love the meaning. The name looks pretty cool, too. I like it pronounced like it reads best. (aka not a purist lol).
Historically, the given name Somerled should be pronouced: "So-airley or Sorley", not "Summer-lead" -- just FYI (for my fellow purists). ;0).
What a lovely name. I love how it contains "summer" in it's pronunciation. It's unusual and unique (well, at least it is to me, this is the first time I've come across this name).
The word "traveller" is not spelled correctly, there is only one L in the word.
To the above poster, "traveller", with two Ls, is a correct spelling. It's the British English spelling of the word.
I love this name. It has lots of history, it's easy to pronounce and on top of it all it has an awesome meaning. 'Summer traveller' seems very poetic to me, for some reason.
Somerled was the name of first 'Lord of the Isles' in Scotland after seizing the Western Isles from the King of Mann in 1156.
The name of a main character in Juliet Marillier's novel Wolfskin. It's an excellent book, and the names are really great.
Pronounced SUM-ur-led.
