I really like Susannah. I believe it means "lily" and the Hebrew version is Shoshana. In Early American times a popular nickname was Sukey, which I think is unique and prefer it to Susie.
This is such an uplifting name. It reminds me of sunshine, and makes me smile when I say it. Love Susannah!

Our daughter (born in 2000) is named Susannah. We love the name's femininity, familiarity, and as it turns out, uniqueness. We meet a ton of Savannahs but no Susannahs her age.
Susannah Grant is a screen writer and is included in the book In Their Shoes by Deborah Reber. In 1995 she wrote the screenplay for the movie Pocahontas. In 1998 she wrote the screenplay for Ever After: A Cinderella Story. In 2000, she wrote the screen play for 28 Days. In 2005 she wrote the screenplay for In Her Shoes. In 2006 she wrote the screenplay for Charlotte's Web. And in 2007 She made a directorial debut with her orignial screenplay for Catch and Release.
I love this name so much. I would consider this name because one of my favorite aunts was named Susan, but I think this is a prettier variation of that name.
I do not know why, but -- every time I see or hear the name Susannah, it feels like the sun just came out from behind the clouds and birds have started to sing. The name just delights me for some reason. If I miraculously had a second daughter, I would name her Susannah.
