Suzume Iwato is the titular character of the recent Makoto Shinkai film, “Suzume.”.
I think this would be a good name for a girl who zooms around on her Vespa. It's very cool.
A friendly and cute name.
I have a character named Suzume. Originally, I named her as part of an elaborate joke involving birds and snipers (don't ask), but now the name's grown on me quite a bit. I really like how it sounds.
Suzume is also the name of the oldest granddaughter of Dr. Gensai from the anime/manga series Rurouni Kenshin. She and her sister Ayame can often be caught playing with their "Uncle Ken" or helping him with lunch.
Suzume can be pronounced "sue-zoo-me" or "sue-zoo-may". I personally prefer the latter pronunciation, but to each his own.
For this particular spelling, it MUST be pronounced su.zu.may. "e" is never pronounced like the English E in Pete in Japanese. It's not so common a name in Japan now anyway, so not so much of an issue.
Suzumi has the same meaning. This is how you say it:
Su.Zu.me
It is the exact same for Suzumi.
