Not so much a name as a general nickname for any Welsh person -- it can also come off as a little derogatory. Probably comes from the River Taff.

Personally, I think this name goes better with a girl.

It makes me think of the candy.

Russian humourist writer (Real name Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Lohvickaja) used the pseudonym Taffy, but she spelled it Teffy (pronounced as Taffy).

Funny name. Sounds like a nickname for a kid.

Combine with the middle name Candy.

This might be okay in Wales, but this is too silly to use in any English speaking country.

Um, number1212, Wales is an English-speaking country.

Taffy sounds more like a girl's nickname to me. It's not very masculine-sounding. Plus someone with this name will not be taken seriously. It's too ditzy, childish, and ridiculous.

This name holds so much mystery and ambiguity. I wish it was my name.

Nuh-uh! This is a joke right? Seriously, naming a son Taffy is just blatant child abuse! If this is your name, sue your parents!

Also a medieval English diminutive of David. http://www.tekeli.li/onomastikon/England-Medieval/Biblical.html.

Taffy is normally an abbreviation of Dafydd (my name) and is also used as a slur against Welsh people by the English. It comes from the river Taff that runs from Brecon to Cardiff and was used in the English song "Taffy was a Welsh man, Taffy was a thief".
