I have something to say about the name and the etymology as described in the database.Taras is a name that comes from Greek mythology: he was the son of Poseidon and the nymph Satyrion. Ancient Greek colonists from Sparta founded a city in modern-day Italy and named the city Taras, after him. The Romans, however, called it Tarentum.Taras itself does not mean "from Tarentum", and neither does Tarasios. Tarasios is simply a form or derivation of Taras. As for the etymology of Taras itself: I believe it comes from an ancient Greek word for "rebel, mutineer" - but I don't dare say this for certain.
