Meaning & History

This name can be used to combine 天 (ten, amatsu, ame, ama-, te) meaning "sky, heaven" or 手 (shu, zu, (-)te(-), ta-) meaning "hand" with 毬 (kyuu, iga, mari) or 鞠 (kiku, kyuu, mari), both meaning "ball."
Temari (天毬) is also used as a word to refer to handmade balls made from embroidery which may be used in handball games, hence the kanji make-up (though it's more often written as 手まり).

One fictional bearer of this name is Temari (テマリ) from the popular manga and anime series Naruto.

This name is rarely used.
