In French you can write this name 3 different ways.Thibault
Thibaut
ThibaudThe real meaning for this name is not French at all but very English "The Bold"
Let me explain, we French are using an "i" for your "e".
We can use "AU" for "O" especially in Auld French, like the Auld Alliance.
The T is useless, drop it and merge both the L and the DTHIBAULD / The BoldThis is even more obvious for the name Thibald which is "The bald".This is my guess but I think it is very obvious if you speak both French and English.PS I can only smile at the name of the Ex NFL QB Tim Tebow. ;)
And by the way, Thibault is my name.
This is a very nice French name. I had a foreign exchange student from France in my class with this name, and he was very nice :)
Sometimes spelled Thibaud.
This is the name of the little yellow dog on the children's TV series "Clifford the Big Red Dog."
I very recently connected this name to the fiery Tybalt, Juliet's cousin from "Romeo and Juliet". All the same, while I see Tybalt's ferocity, the name makes me melt; I think of somebody beautiful, funny, and sweet. I adore my Thibault, even if he doesn't return my feelings.
This is also a common last name.
I married into this name, it's my last name now. I went from Miller to Thibault, and it's been... well I never knew there was so many ways to mispronounce Thibault, it always seemed straight foward to me. Even my husband pronounces it wrong saying TEE-BOLT instead of tee-BO.
I've seen this name spelled Thibeault.
