Tiare is also used as a masculine name in Tahitian. However, it's more common for females. So, I think that the "Gender" of this name should be changed from "Feminine" to "Feminine & Masculine".Source: https://forebears.io/x/forenames/tiare
I didn't realize the flower name was traditionally given as a Tahitian name as well, though I probably should have. I've never considered Tiare as a name before, but recognize that the Tiare flower has one of the loveliest scents.
Usages: English, Spanish, Polynesian, Tahitian, LiteratureMeaning: Derived from Tahitian Tiare, the general word for "flower", it more often than not refers specifically to the "Tahitian Gardenia", also known as Tiaré Flower. In the literary world, Somerset Maugham used the variant Tiaré for one of his characters in The Moon and Sixpence.Notes: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_des_prénoms_d%27origine_tahitienne(Information from name #33116 originally submitted by user Tiare Solorzano).
A variant of this name, Thiare, is quite common in Chile. Easter Island, a remote part of Polynesia, belongs to Chile, so it's possible that it was imported to Chile via there. (Rapa Nui, the native language of Easter Island, is related to Tahitian.) In Chile, it's used by both Polynesian and non-Polynesian parents.
