I adore the meaning of this name and its pronunciation! But the character who bears it in the book of Nehemiah in the Holy Bible was such an offensive man. If that association wasn’t so strong in my mind, I’d use it in a heartbeat! And I’d be happy to use the nickname Toby, like the famous singer TobyMac. Very cool.

I like this name better than Tobias. It sounds better, don’t like the “iss” sound. Usually I don’t like boy names ending in -a or -ah. But this one is okay (I also love Elijah).
