In "The Producers", Ulla was the name of the Swedish receptionist. She is played by Uma Thurman in the feature film and by Chloe Dallimore in the Australian theatre production.

My mom's name. I don't think it's pretty at all. My mother doesn't like her name either. She always thought it sounded "round", and because she had round cheeks as a child, she hated it.

This name was very common in Sweden in the 40's and 50's, but is rarely used on children today, probably because it takes a while for a name to become popular again, but also because it rhymes with lots of Swedish, words, some of them nasty.

Pronounced close to EU-la.

In Danish, we pronounce it OO-la. I like this name although -or maybe partly because - it's not fashionable.

In some languages it's pronounced "OO-luh", the OO sounding like in 'cook' not 'spoon'.

This name sounds really pretty. It's not too often that you see names starting with U.

In Germany, Ulla is a very popular short form of Ursula. Ulrike or Ulrika (rare in Germany) are usually shortened to Ulli. [noted -ed]
