A famous bearer of this name was the English actress Vanda Godsell (17 November 1922 – 11 April 1990). :)
Used in Lithuanian.
It is possible that the name has a Baltic origin and is made of the word 'vanduo' (Lithuanian - water).
A Polish person would claim this name to be Polish. But actually in my native language which is Lithuanian, Vanda was a goddess of water - vanduo. Not many people know this. English dictionaries usually point out that this name could be of Slavic origin. It is not true as Lithuanian is a Baltic language.
