According to other sources, this name means "crown of glory" or "crowned by glory", with the first element ultimately derived from Old Church Slavonic вѣньць (věnĭcĭ) meaning "crown". The modern Bulgarian and Russian form is венец (venec + venets), whilst it is вінець (vinets') in modern Ukrainian.Personally, I find this more likely than the derivation from Slavic 'veche' meaning "more", since it explains why there is an 'n' in the first element. There is not an 'n' present in 'veche' and neither is there one in the word вель (veli) meaning "great", of which 'veche' is the comparative form: https://www.behindthename.com/element/vecheI get the impression that вѣньць (věnĭcĭ) and 'veche' have been confused with each other a lot, due to being fairly similar in appearance. As a result, it can be hard for people to tell which is which in given names... or easy for people to make the mistake of viewing them as one and the same element. This would explain why e.g. Czech Veceslav and Věnceslav are both seen as a form of Václav, while it's probably more likely that they are separate names, with Veceslav containing 'veche' and Věnceslav containing вѣньць (věnĭcĭ). The same goes for Polish Więcesław and Wieńczysław.All in all, I think that this definitely needs further investigation with your own reliable sources.Sources used:
