Comments for XYLIA:
Really unusual, but at least it isn't trendy ... yet.-- jeziana 10/24/2006
I just adore this name! Xylia, very extreme sounding, and looking. Fabulous spelling, creative, unusual - love it!-- Emmasj 12/8/2006
Wow, a modern name that's actually NICE! This is really pretty.-- scarletquillraven 3/23/2007
I have a feeling this name is going to really grow on me. :)-- Jasmine 3/26/2007
Sorry to rain on everyone's parade, but I in fact utterly despise this name. Its good qualities are nil.-- Anonymous User 6/14/2007
Hate to rain on YOUR parade M. Anonymous, but I love it. I like greek names, and names that sound like they could be greek. I like the meaning, and I appreciate the unusual spelling.-- WritersEye 6/19/2007
Very cute name! I'm not sure it would be the best to grow up with though. I can see Xylia working till your twenties, but can you really see an adult named Xylia? Its something I would think twice about before using it.-- pandasayscynical 12/22/2007
Sounds too much like xylophone; the poor girl might get teased about it.-- Lady Seashell 4/1/2008
Harsh sound. Sounds like a brand name. Absolutely terrible.-- slight night shiver 5/13/2008
The xy beginning makes it look completely made up, like someone was putting cool letters together to get a unique name.-- gio2475 7/20/2008
Uhhh. Apparently, Xylia is 'a genus of legume in the Fabaceae family'. -shrug- Not sure if that helps.-- Shibbeh 11/5/2008
I love Greek names and names that start with X, but don't you think the 'ia' part is a bit too busy? I'm not exactly sure how to pronounce it. Someone care to enlighten me?-- 1m4n 2/12/2009
I heard it pronounced like "ZEE-lee-ah" before.-- Cyneburga 3/8/2009
I really don't like the "lia" part.-- Kerules 4/7/2009
This name has a really neat sound to it. I love Greek names, and X is one of my favorite letters for names, since it's so rare to find a legit X name. I also some of the other variations on the name, Xylona and Xylina.-- Anyechka 7/9/2009
I noticed that somebody has this name pronounced as "ZEE-lee-ah" - I would have thought that with the "Xy" beginning, I would think it more likely to be pronounced "ZAHY-lee-ə"
Either way, this is a name that is sure to cause a lot of confusion.-- Anonymous User 9/6/2009
I bet if people discovered this name, or if a celebrity used it on their kid, people would go crazy over this name instead of the terrible trendy names.
Beautiful, but I agree with the above comment that it sounds like a brand name.-- -Julia- 9/17/2009
It would be pronounced KSILL-ee-ah in Greek (modern).-- Anonymous User 11/25/2009
Sounds too synthetic. Maybe good for an alien queen in a cheesy science fiction movie.-- dayzunique 6/21/2011
I really love Xylia, it is so unique and gorgeous - I pronounce it ZY-lee-ah, 'Zy' like 'My'. However, whenever I post it on polls, most people usually don't like it... I think it's really cool that it comes from a Greek word, and that it starts on an X. Xylia is so creative and I love it. I also like the variations Xylienna (zy-lee-ENN-uh)and Xyliana.-- DeathBarbie 5/10/2012
