Yakari

Of Australian Aboriginal origin (Pintupi, to be precise), the meaning of this name is not yet known to me at the moment. A known bearer of this name is Yakari Napaltjarri (b. circa 1925), an Australian Aboriginal artist who also happens to be the sister of fellow artists Parara Napaltjarri (c. 1944-2003) and Payu Napaltjarri (b. circa 1952).

Japanese feminine name derived from 弥 (ya) meaning "increasingly", 華 (ka) meaning "splendour, flower, lustre, bloom" and 璃 (ri) meaning "lapis lazuli".

The name of the title character, a little Sioux boy, in the French-Belgian comic book series Yakari (1973-) and its television adaptions (1983, 2005).
