A famous bearer is Yelizaveta Mironova. She was a Soviet sniper during the Second World War. She fought in the Battle of Stalingrad.

I love this name! It just sounds so cool and pretty. Until I heard this name, there weren't any "Y" names I liked. I would probably go by Liz, though, if this were my name, just because Yelizaveta is pretty long. :)

Yelizaveta Fyodorovna (born Elisabeth) was Tsaritsa Alexandra Fyodorovna's sister and the wife of Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich. After her husband was assassinated, she publicly forgave the assassin and became a nun. She was executed by the Cheka in 1918.
