Every time I hear this name, I think of Splinter's owner, Master Yoshi, from TMNT. I like this name and I personally would name my child Yoshi, though it'd be a middle name (eg: James Yoshi).

Yoshimitsu from the Soul Calibur series and Tekkens series is a swordsman and a cheery one at that. (At least in Soul Calibur)
