The Biblical Greek form of Hebrew Zerah, meaning "dawn, dawning, shining, rising of the sun," derived from the Hebrew verb זרח (zarah) "to arise, to shine, to break out". This name is most famously borne by Zara Anne Elizabeth Tindall, née Phillips, daughter of Princess Anne, The Princess Royal and eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II. Her name was suggested by her uncle Prince Charles because she was born suddenly, like the bright arrival of the dawn.
