So lovely. I love the pronunciation.
Zénaïde Bonaparte (1801-1854) was a niece of Napoleon. She was married to her cousin Charles, an ornithologist who named the Zenaida doves of Mexico after her.
Not given.
The name Zénaïde would be pronounced 'zeh-na-eed' in French not 'zay-na-eed'. The accent aigu (accent acute) isn't pronounced 'ay'.
My aunt's name is Zenaide, spelled that way without the accents. That side of the family (my dad's) is Portuguese, from the Azores. She pronounces her name zeh-NIED (IE representing the long "i" sound).
Fantastically peculiar. Odd names like this are a curiosity to me. :)
