My name is Zenaida, and I am Spanish. The name comes from the Spaniards and when they invaded the Philippines the name grew very common there now. The correct pronunciation is Sen-i-tha. It's very exotic and I have chosen to place the name in one of my daughter's middle names to keep it going in the family. Many people still pronounce it Zen-aa-da. It makes me mad. I love the name now but for years I have endured the wrong pronunciation. My nickname is SENNY. That is what my MOM use to call me.Just to give you a little history behind the name.
When I was 17 years old, I looked it up in my High School dictionary. The meaning was a girl who lived in a castle years ago was named Zenaida. The second meaning was a White Dove. I loved that!
Absolutely beautiful name! Underated as well, whoever has this name is really lucky!
It’s gorgeous.
Pretty unusual.
Zenaida means ‘white-winged dove’ in Greek.
Also Polish: https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zenaida
This name is also used in Poland. However, I have also seen other versions (spellings?) of this name, like: Zinaida, Zenajda and Zinajda (Different spellings of one name are uncommon in Poland, I suppose in this case it's caused by transliteration from Cyrillic as this name was more popular in eastern Poland.)
This is also a Spanish name. The website listed it as such until it was changed to Greek. I do think it's a lovely name, though.
Zenaida is a genus of doves, named after Zénaïde Laetitia Julie Bonaparte by her husband-cousin Charles Lucien Bonaparte. (Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte I was their uncle.)
This is a really nice name, unusual, enchanting for sure. Sensual but sweet.
