Created by Toni Morrison for her Pulitzer prize-winning novel "Beloved." Sethe is the mother of the title character, whom she murders out of an extreme act of love: she would rather kill her child than give it up to the hands of slavery.It was possibly used in the novel as a female version of SETH.
