Meaning & History

English form of Rocco, traditionally used to refer to the 14th-century saint. Modern use of the name is probably influenced by the English surname Rock and may also be inspired by the English word rock. This was borne by the American actor Rock Hudson (1925-1985), whose stage name was allegedly taken from the Rock of Gibraltar, a promontory on the south of the Iberian Peninsula.
