I was almost named this, when my parents thought they might live in
France (I was born in Brazil, they named me
Catalina instead). They heard it pronounced KAHT-leen there, with a teeny schwa-ish sound between the two syllables, which I think is beautiful. Sometimes I use it as an alias on websites or chats.
I think it's a prettier, more elegant alternative to
Caitlin, which I like as well. Just as long as people don't try to screw up the spelling like they so often do with
Caitlin (
Kaitlyn, Caitlynn, or
Katelynn could turn into Kateline, Kaitline, Kateleen....)
