Help[Opinions] Naomi pronunciation
I was reading through the comments on the name Naomi and the first one says that in Hebrew the name is pronounced nah-oh-mi. I was just wondering if this is true because I didn't see any other comments corroborating or refuting it.
Do you guys like this pronunciation? I think it sounds soft and sweet, whereas I always viewed Naomi (pronounced nay-O-mee) as a very strong and independent name.

Since Na'omi is listed as the biblical Hebrew version of the name, I'd guess that's true.
And I agree nah-oh-mi seems softer than nay-O-mee, but I don't have much of a preference between those. I prefer Noemi to both.

I'm not seeing that, I'm seeing nah-o-me as the Japanese pronunciation, another etymology.
I wouldn't expect it to be said nay-oh-me, though I suppose I've heard of that pronunciation. I say nie-oh-me.

I say Naomi NIE-o-mee and that's the way I like it pronounced. I didn't realize for years that most people don't pronounce it that way. They say NAY-o-mee. I can't say it that way. NIE-o-mee is what comes out of my mouth. I can't help it. I think pronounced any other way, the name is awkward.

I hate the nay-oo-me pronunciation. Most of the Naomis I've known were Jewish and used the nah-oh-mi pronunciation. I see Naomi as a strong name, but find the nay pronunciation annoying and wrong.

I don't know about Hebrew, but in Japanese the name is pronounced like "nah-oh-mi". I prefer the nay-o-mi pronunciation, I think it's gorgeous.
