Love most of them. Ellen is a bit outdated for a kid, very old ladyish. I don't love Sorrel or Aisling. Is this in America or somewhere else?

This is in Britain.
There are so many Amelias! It's getting a little bit annoying.
Lily has always been popular.
Elodie is cute.
Lyla is sweet. I like it.
Esther is classic.
Ghillie-Mae is a little confusing. I'm not sure I understand the appear.
Valerie is strong! Love it.
Ellen sounds old-fashioned.
Lucy is still common. It's lost it's touch for me.
Sorrel is not my favorite.
Zara is short, sweet, and modern. Nice choice!
Iona is an Irish name. Like it!
Iris is one of my favorites names, but it's climbing in popularity.
Penny is fine, but I've never loved it.
Aisling is fantastic! I absolutely love it. So cute, and also Irish!
A Ghillie is a person who assists with hunting, fishing and deer stalking. Essentially guides and experts on the land. Often though not exclusively based in the Scottish Highlands.Iona along with Skye and Islay (pronounced Isla) are part of a group of Scottish Islands called the Inner Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland.

Oh, interesting. I didn't know Iona was Scottish. I had an Irish friend with that name.

Lots of good names there. I especially like Amelia, Lily, Elodie, Zara, Penny & Lucy.I don't care for Ghillie-Mae, Valerie or Sorrel.

What fascinating names! I hope your niece had a wonderful time. A few comments:
Two Amelia people is two too many. That whiney Me-e really puts me off.
Elodie is nice; Lyla is flimsy.
Esther and Valerie are pleasantly vintage; Ellen is vintage without the pleasant.
Ghillie-Mae is astonishing: will she grow up to help people catch salmon, deer etc?
Lucy was going to be my daughter's name and I still love it; I'd also use Penelope, nn Penny.
Sorrel just sounds sorrowful; plant names are bad enough, but weed names ... !
Zara is trying too hard.
Iona ... what, exactly? A new phone, a pretty puppy, a useful bookcase?
Iris is bland; funny, because the flower isn't.
Aisling is also trying too hard. Better to just use Ashley and defy the spelling.
I love Sorrel, Ellen, Valerie, and Elodie! I just wonder how Ghillie-Mae is pronounced. Like “gill”? Or like Jilly?
It’s pronounced like Gill or with the G like the G In egg.

All of them are very cute except Ghillie-Mae. I would prefer Jilly Mae at least.
i like all of them except Ghillie-Mae and Zara
Ghillie-Mae?I feel like I've seen ghillie as a common noun before but can't remember what it is.
there's something called a ghillie suit which is like a camouflage thing... not something i'd name a kid after, personally
