Girls Name help
I have always struggled with girls names, especially now that my husband has tossed in his two sense. We are going with Matilda for this little one but I can't even fathom what we would do if we had another girl. My PNL is attached so you can get an idea for what I like (although my husband has shot down just about everything on this list). I'd appreciate any and all suggestions!
Thanks!http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/122562

Matilda and Jemima? Matilda and Lucinda?

I love love love Jemima it is one of my favorites. I would use it in a heartbeat but being in the US everyone shoots it down because or the racial history of it. Honestly though I think it might be time to reclaim it, it is Biblical and has a beautiful meaning so maybe we need to just go for it and show people there is more to it. Thoughts?

Not being in the US, I really can't predict what people might think of it. What I thought was that Mattie or Tilly would be good nns for Matilda, and Mimi or Jimsie for Jemima; Lucinda gives Lucy and Cindy of course, so if it was me I'd play the nn game, combining them with the ln, and choose the entire name accordingly. And, of course, you're right. Once people know a pleasant, friendly Jemima person without obvious hangups, their personal associations will change.

Going by your PNL, you seem to have a 19th century aesthetic. I get both Victorian England and Old American West vibes from it. Some suggestions from me:Amalia (what about this, instead of Amelia?)

Matilda is the name of a strong medieval warrior Queen. (although she never got to be crowned ) So why not stick with the Medieval theme?Names Like Eleanor and Isabella

Both Brook (with no e) and Winter made the list for middle names this time around so I can see them popping up again. Hubs likes Beth but it seems to fall short with me. I love Luna and I think we would totally use but a little worried about the Harry Potter / Loony Luna connection, though I think that would calm down in a few years.
Thanks!
