Neighbors new baby Baker.....
My parents neighbors just had a new baby boy. His name is Baker and he joins his brother Keaton. What do you think of their names? My mom commented to them maybe someday he will become a baker. Then they said or maybe a mountaineer. If you don't know Baker is one of the biggest and better known mountains in Washington. I automatically assumed they named him after the mountain but the thought didn't cross my mother's mind right away. Which is odd since my father use to climb Mt. Baker. Personally I would have chosen Mt. Rainier if I was naming a son after a local mountain but Baker is more close to their heart. Also I like Keaton but it is nms.

I prefer Keaton, which I like. Baker seems a bit odd as a first name, but it's not too bad. I can't imagine myself using it.

Neither of them are my style. I actually prefer Baker to Keaton.I do appreciate, however, their inspiration for Baker. At least there's a reason.I don't particularly like them, but they could be worse.

Haha. Rainier would be a way better name than Baker. Mt Baker is familiarish to me (I live in WA) but gah, the name does not bring mountains to mind first! Baker: he loaves. I think the names are bad. But, could be worse! I saw a Kidder on the student roll at a school where my daughter has enrichment. I'm not kidding.

Lol at the puniness. :PYeah Baker does make me think of the profession first and then the mountain second and then I think of the surname since I've known many people with the surname Baker. I especially think of a girl I went to elementary school with named Julia Baker since she was one of a few Julia's so she was almost always Julia Baker, not just Julia.I actually have considered using Rainier as a mn for a future son or Tahoma as a mn for a future daughter. I've also considered using some other local place names as mn's for future children. I personally would never use them as fn's but I think Rainier would make a good first name for someone elses child.

If you have only lived in Washington for a year then it's not surprising that you haven't heard of Baker yet since there are a ton of mountains here. The four most known mountains in Washington are Rainier, St. Helens, Baker, and Adams. The big ranges are the Cascades and the Olympics. Baker is apart of the Cascades, the most northwestern Washington part of the Cascades. It is basically exactly east of Bellingham. During the summer or early fall you should really drive the Northern Cascades Highway 20. The mountains are so beautiful and so is lake Ross. I haven't visited Baker since I was a small child but I hear that the road up there is really beautiful as well. Until just a few years ago I hadn't spent much time in the Cascades for like 10 years and had spent most of my summers in and near the Olympics. But the last 3 or 4 years we've been spending a bit of time around the Cascades. Both ranges are so gorgeous.I see that you are originally from Germany so you are probably use to beautiful mountains. I'd love to visit the mountains in Germany and the surrounding countries. I'd also love to go to see the mountains in Alaska and the Himalayas. I've seen some other beautiful mountains in the US and Canada, but there are some I'd like to see or see again. When my partners mother asked us the other day which was more beautiful, the ocean or the mountains, we both said mountains and she said ocean. Though when it comes to which I would choose if I could only choose one I said the ocean. I love the beauty of the ocean but it isn't quite as beautiful as the mountains but I just love the whole experience of the ocean more. The tidepools, the sound and smell, and the feeling of the salty air blowing through your hair and gently embracing your flesh. But fortunately you can have both, that's a major part of why I love Washington.
