Re: Which version and why?
Emmanuelle, Emanuela, Manuela: I don't really care for this family of names, but if forced I'd go with Emmanuelle. It's a bit of a mouthful, but elegant.Francoise, Francesca, Francisca, Franziska: Francesca, though I'm not a huge fan of any of them. "Fran" is such an ugly sound.Blanche, Branca, Bianca, Blanca: Bianca, I guess. All of them are really harsh and snotty to me.Madeleine, Magdalena, Magdalene, Madalena, Maddalena, Magali: I'd pick Madeline (-line ending) if that were an option, but since it's not I'll go with Maddalena. It's gorgeous. I also like Magdalene.Letitia, Lettice, Leticia, Letizia, Laetitia: Laetitia, as it reminds me the least of lettuce.Matilda, Matilde, Mathilde, Mathilda, Mafalda: Matilda, though Mathilde is nice too. Matilde and Mathilda just look wrong and Mafalda is that annoying cartoon character.Joanna, Johanna, Juana, Joana, Jana: Johanna (though really, Jane is my favorite). I want to like Joanna but it turns into juh-WAN-uh in my accent. Joana looks odd and I find Juan- names ugly. Jana is okay but kinda trendy.Leonor, Leonore, Leonora, Eleonore, Eleanor, Elinor: Eleanor! I love it. But the only one I really dislike is Elinor, which looks dumbed-down.Beatriz, Beatrix, Beatrice: Never cared for any of them, but I guess Beatriz.Naomi, Noemi, Noemie, Noemia: Naomi, which I love. Noemi and Noemie are nice too. Noemia is just a bit much.
