Re: Undecided names
I don't like traditionally masculine names on girls, so I'm a bit biased, but...Addison - Boy please!
Amery / Emery - Love Emery for a boy, I wish it wasn't taken over by the girls!!
Avery - Boy! I hate this on a girl. It's so trendy and will be just as dated as it's counterpart Aubrey on females.
Bellamy / Bellamie - Hmm... It's a surname so that makes me want to say boy, but it's very uncommon as a fn and it does sound feminine... I'd say it can be unisex but I'd probably think someone named Bellamy was a girl.
Blaise / Blaze (was always boy until I seen it in a book for girls) - For girls, really? Crazy... Blaise is all boy to me and although I don't like Blaze at all, it's masculine too. Almost hyper-masculine IMO
Caden / Kaden (seen on both and was intrigued) - It's made up so I guess it could go both ways but the vast majority are boys and it sounds masculine to me.
Cameron / Camryn - masculine (Cameron spelling only of course... I do know two female Camerons but both go by Cammy / Cami)
Carson / Karsen- Masculine... I don't get why names ending in SON are given to girls!
Dakota- best for a dog, male or female. Not a person. I guess feminine if I had to say, but it's not really a personal name, it's a tribe name so it's weird gendering it
Delaney / Delani - I've only seen it on girls but it might be kind of cool on a guy now that I think about it!
Devin / Deven - I've known a female Devon and a female Devan, but no males. I know it's traditionally masculine though so that makes me want to say it's a boy's name, but I've only known girls with the name
Drew - Boy!
Easton - Neither, it's a baseball bat company... If I had to say though I'd 100% say boy, I would've never even have thought of using it on a girl!
Emerson (seen on both) - I've seen it on both as well but I prefer it for a boy.
Everley / Everly - Girl.
Finley - Boy 100%. That's gross that someone would use it for a girl. So trendy and gross.
Galen - Boy. Do people actually use this on girls?
Hadley - More common among girls probably because of the -ley ending, but I think it could definitely work on a boy. I detest it on any gender tbh...
Harper - BOY! Please! I hate this so much on girls it's not even funny. It's better as a surname but if it had to be a fn, please use it on a boy! Harper Lee's real name was not Harper anyway!
Hayden - Boy
Hollis - Boy. Love this one.
Jaden / Jayden - I knew a girl named Jadyn, which is a crazy spelling and even crazier considering she's probably around 23 now... I think it's unisex for the same reason as Kaden etc- it's made up
Jamie- I prefer it on boys as a nn for James
Jordan- This was almost my name and I'm so glad it's not. It's masculine to me (like just about all surname turned first names...) but I've known several male and female Jordans, Jordyns, Jordins etc
Journey - Ew neither. Don't name your child this. Maybe a female pet.
Justice / Justus - Boy for sure
Kia- Girl, definitely
Kennedy - I'm probably in the minority but I like it for a boy. I guess I'm just a big stickler to the surnames are for boys thing haha
Kona - cute for a male or female pet... I'd say it's unisex but probably more common on females
Lane / Laynie - Lane is masculine, Lanie (or Laynie) is feminine.
Linden - I like this, it's a boy name in my head
Micah / Mika- I'd say Micah (MY-kah) is masculine (I mean, it's a male Biblical character) and Mika (MEE-kah) is feminine. I am quite disturbed to see that Micah ranks in the top 1000 for girls...
Morgan- I prefer it on boys but it's definitely considered "unisex" nowadays. It sounds very harsh and masculine to me though.
Orion (was always boy then seen in book for both) Lol I would never think to use this on a girl but ok...
Parker- Same as Orion. Who'd name a girl Parker?
Paxton - Ok honestly same as the two above. This is so freaking masculine what even
Payton / Peyton - I prefer it for boys, but I can see how Peyton could be feminine I guess. Maybe Payton for boys, Peyton for girls?
Presley- I think it's nice on a boy but tbh it's a bit tacky on either gender
Quinn- Boy! Ugh I hate seeing this on girls. Yuck.
Reese - This one for some reason goes either way for me. Rhys is 100% boy, Reece is also boy, Reese is girl. Most likely because of Reese Witherspoon.
Riley- Ah I freaking hate this on girls!! I've come across 2 guys and so many girls with this name in all kinds of attempted feminine spellings - Rylie, Ryleigh, Rylee... No. It's for boys. I really don't know why I'm so passionate about this
Rowan-Boy
Ryan / Rhyan - Boyyy.. Maybe Riann(e) or Ryann(e) for a girl pronounced ry-ANN, but Ryan is too common on boys for it to be feminine.
Tyler (I know both)- I feel bad for any girl named Tyler. Even Tyla would be better.
Waverly - I actually know of a girl named this, so I'll say feminine even though it's super uncommon as a first name.
Zane (was boy then seen it in a book for both) - Nah Zane is definitely masculine... maybe Zaina for a girl? Lol what book were you reading?
