My father - Cecil, the blind man - had very good eyesight and beautiful eyes. I would happily have been a Cecily; my parents didn't bother about the meaning, just the possible confusion.The only time I'd avoid Claude, Claudia, Cecil, Cecily etc would be if my new baby actually proved to be crippled or blind. That, I think, would be tactless. But for the fortunately physically abled among us, they're just extra names to choose from.
