Maximilian, Vincent and.. (more)
I'm desperately trying to narrow down my boys list, and I'm down to about 55 names which sounds like a lot - but I started out with like 500 of them... So, let's talk about some of the remaining names!Any opinions, feedback, associations, whatever you want.. Hit me with it!
Maximilian - nickname is unavoidable, most likely Max, Maxi or Milian. My only concern is that I have a cousin with a son (7 or 8 years old) named Max. We meet a couple of times a year so it wouldn't be a problem, but I guess it bugs me a little...
Vincent - Doubt any nickname would be used where I'm living
Matteo - Would probably use Theo as a nickname on occasion
Sam - Just Sam. I also have a cousin with the nickname Zam/Zammy, but I haven't met her for years
Leo - Used to love it, but I think I'm about to get tired of it. Seems like there are Leo's everywhere here. But I don't have the heart to take it off the list, either...
Jonathan - Dislike all the potential nicknames
Isaac / Isak - I've always preferred Isaac, but now I'm having second thoughts
We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are. PNL: http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/45898
Top: Alice and William
Bottom: Dolly and Isidor'Eggbert' due December 2018

I'm really loving Matteo and Maximilian nn Max. I also like just Sam. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those choices!

I very much like these...Maximilian - more nn ideas: Axil, Mal, Maxim, MannyVincent - handsomeMatteo - like “Theo”; “Mo / Moe” could work, tooLeo - love LeoJonathan - how about “Jot”?Isaac - prefer this spelling

Maxim could work as a nickname here too, and I like it okay, I just prefer the other ones. :)
Mo/Moe wouldn't work as a nickname, neither would Jot. The most common nickname for Jonathan here is 'Jonte' which sounds ridiculous if you ask me...

I like Maximilian and Max. I think the cousin will stop being a bother after you use the name and get used to it. It'll seem neat that they share a name, once it's not your responsibility to be "original."
Vincent - love it.
Matteo - very fashionable but to me it's kind of just Matthew.
Sam is nice, I like it.
Leo - I used to like it more too, now getting tired. It's a good name.
Jonathan - a conservative choice. Jon is cool.
Isaac / Isak - I'm not into this, but I think it's a good name.

Max is a cool & easy name, as is Sam.
Lenny is another diminutive variant for Leonard - if you were to opt to further formalize the first name.

Leo is a bit more popular now, but it’s always been relatively popular. It’s still my favorite on this list. If you want to make it more complex / less common, you could go with Leonard, Leonardo, Leonidas, or Leonid.

I've had Leopold and Leonidas on my list, but they somehow felt weird even though I still like them. And my nephew's MN is Leonard, so that's out.

No idea whether you like them, or they’d be too big a stretch, or they’d be allowed in Sweden, but Lancelot and Lennox (Shakespeare) contain the ingredients for “Leo”.

No problems to get them allowed, but not really a fan of them and Leo would be a huge stretch for them. Thanks though!

Ooh, Matteo!Use Matteo "Theo", or at least keep it on your list! I love it!

my favorites are Vincent and Matteo. I assume the nickname for Matteo would be pronounced like "tay-o" and not "thee-o"?I'm not a fan of Jonathan and I think that if you dislike any potential nicknames, you may as well cut it from the list since you're trying to narrow down. I also think that Maximilian should go if sharing with your cousin's son is going to bother you (it would definitely bother me). the nickname "Maxi" makes me think of maxi dresses or maxi pads, although idk if that would be an issue where you are.

No, it would be pronounced more like TE-o since I'm living in Sweden and tay-o wouldn't make any sense here.
Maxi dresses are quite popular here, but I doubt it would be a problem with Maxi as a nickname. Thanks!

On Theo - that's what I'm assuming, that it's TAY-o.Ditto dropping Jonathan. Or at least put it in the middle.Probably Maxi would be prn. "MAHK-see" in Sweden, but I agree--maxi pads were the first thing to come to mind. lol
