Re: An uncommon name similar in style to Cressida
Welcome aboard!I love that your name is Cressida - that is so cool! However, you and only you can know whether it is right to change your name - and if this is your decision, I wish you the best of luck. If you fully commit to this, I hope you enjoy the new identity involved with this new (re)-presentation. If you decide not to change - no one here will think less of you. I like that with Ariadne (Ariadna) - I love the various nickname possibilities - Ari / Aria / Ria / Addie / or AdaAnother Greek name I love is Briseis (My understanding is that the pronunciation is phonetically Bre - es-e-us but to be certain, I do not know.) I consider names to be personal nouns so you can spell or pronounce your name as you like it.
There are also numerous possibilities for short forms here as well - Bri (Bree) / Bessie / Essie / Esta - and with the final diphthong - I see no reason why you can't latch on to the Sue / Susan family of variations or diminutives.I wish you best of luck & I hope you keep us posted on whatever you decide.
