HelpIf you were to...
... give a boy a traditionally female name or middle name, a la the celebrity girl babies being named James and Maxwell, what would you choose?
For me, I can imagine Tess, Nell, Alice, and Eliza in the middle name spot, like Henry Nell or Charles Alice.
I guess don't count names like Esme, Rowan, Sidney, Morgan etc. in this category as they are also historically male/unisex, or "female" spellings of names that are otherwise identical (Frances/Francis)

I think it was somewhat common for men about 90-130 years ago...which was when Pearl Buck was born.

I thought about saying Autumn, but seems it unisex to me, even though in usage, it's feminine. I like it slightly more for a boy than a girl.

I've long thought that Jane would work as a middle name for a boy, because of the character Patrick Jane, from the Mentalist. I know in the show, Jane is his last name, but whenever he was introduced as 'Patrick Jane', I found myself thinking it could work as a male middle name.
When I pair it with male first names, I'm always surprised how well it seems to work...

I came across a male character named Nia and I really liked that. And a couple of my male relatives are named Salomé, so I've always seen that name as unisex.
I'm seriously considering naming a son Silva Nicomedes, and I might give a son the middle name Salomé.
And just for fun, some feminine names I think suit guys:

It's interesting, Hester swings boy for me in a way that Esther doesn't. I can imagine a James Hester or Samuel Hester very well.
(I guess I think of Artemis as at least half boy because of Artemis Fowl).

Oh thanks Ariane! Yes Roux Serafin Is perfect. Roux means 'red' and Seraphins are the angels of fire, the ones who are closest to God! So red, fire and splendour are great!
