A few years ago, my dad said he thought Pearl S. Buck (author of The Good Earth) was a man. It’s been a GP ever since.

One of my great great grandparents had a brother named Pearl.

I think it was somewhat common for men about 90-130 years ago...which was when Pearl Buck was born.
