I likeJoanna - strong yet feminine
Rosalia, Isla and Alicia ( Ah-LEE-see-a) - beautifulMy least favorite is Dunya - it is terribly old-fashioned for my taste.

That’ The name of one of my neighbors,so of COURSE I had to choose it.

My favorite is Rosalia; I like most Rose names, and I don't think I've ever met a Rosalia. Is it pronounced ro-ZAY-lee-ah (my intuition and preference), or like the two separate names Rosa Leah? My least favorite is Bella. Nothing inherently wrong with it; I'm just very tired of it. Every third elementary school girl I meet is nicknamed Bella (from Isabella), it seems. Also makes me think of the Twilight book/movie character Bella, which is not my cup of tea.

My favorite on your list is probably Rosalia. It has a pretty sound and there are so many nickname possibilities. My least favorite is probably Nephele. It just is not as pretty to me as the other ones.

I'll list them from most to least favoriteTalya -Both Talya and Talia have a sophisticated and empowering air about them, to me it's the name of someone who demands respectDunya -I prefer Dunja but I love the sound of this name, it rolls off the tongue nicely with a little pop on the 'ya'Nephele -It's a beautiful and mysterious name; I'd pronounce it neh-FEH-leh and call her NephysGrazyna -it's got a quaint, pleasant feeling to itRosalia -I'm not in love with 'Rose' names but this one has my interest, it sounds more mature than the othersNow the rest are all pretty equal in my indifference/dislikeOlivia & Alicia -they're just okay names to me, sometimes I like them, sometimes I don'tIsla -I can see the appeal of the sound of this name, but this spelling just screams 'pretentious' to me and I don't know why; I prefer Ilah or AylaNaira -reminds me of the hair removal cream Nair and has a too-cutesy quality to it like Nala; like it sounds good in your head but not so much in real lifeNolwenn -I want to like it, but it doesn't sound like a name to me, there's this disconnect between syllablesJoanna -old-fashioned and very uninspired in my opinionBella -I wasn't on this site to see how popular it really was back in the day, but it seems like the 'Emma' of it's time, yikes

I like Naira because it has a good sound, it’s a strong name. And I like Joanna, but I prefer the variations Joan / Johana / JohannaI dislike Grazyna because the first part looks too much like “Crazy” I like Dunya depending on which cultural context it’s in? Most Americans don’t get the vowels right and that kinda turns me off. I like Dunya and Dunja. And I really like the name it’s derived from, Avdotya, Dunya is a diminutive, after all. But I’m Slavic and English is my second language, so I like eastern euro names more than most Americans.

Talya - Talia, perhaps, might be better; but prettied up with a y instead of an i makes it look fake and flimsy.
Isla - Should be past its peak by now! Looks and even sounds unfinished.
Bella - Far, far prefer Isobel, Isabel or Annabel, Rosabel ... Bella is just too pretty-pretty.
Dunya (or Dunja, Dounia - which spelling do you like?) - no doubt OK if one is Russian, but has no context for me so I can't make sense of it. Looks like something or someone out of all those Dune novels where the drug turns your eyeballs blue.
Naira - Don't like the sound of it: if Nai sounds like nai, same sound as the first syllable of Simon, then it's unfortunately rather suggestive in Afrikaans.
Olivia - Great classic; entirely preferable to dull, flabby Olive. Has been too popular, but still excellent.
Alicia - Overblown. I love Alice and would use it IRL; also Alison.
Nephele - Same issue as with Dunya. If you're Greek, then fine; if not, why bother when there are hundreds of names at least as nice and much easier for novices to pronounce.
Joanna - I like it very much. The only thing that would hold me back and make me use Joan instead is the high likelihood of it shortening to Jo. (IRL I'd use Jean for family reasons anyway.)
Nolwenn - Two Ns too many. Olwen is nicer and tidier.
Rosalia - Overblown. Rosalie is infantile and sentimental, but better that than Rosalia, which is all that plus ornate.

Well, I hate to be so pedestrian, but my favorite is Olivia. I just like the way it looks and sounds and that it's a classic. My least favorite is Bella. It sounds heavy and clunky to me.

I like Isla, Joanna, Rosalia.
No particular fave, but would probably pick Isla if I had to name a baby from this list. I don't love its spelling, with the S, but I love the sound of it.
Joanna is a great name, sunny, but seems a little staid for a child due to being dated for me, and Rosalia is just beautiful, but not quite my style.Dounia is the most appealing spelling to me, because it forces me to say the ooo sound, and gets rid of the Dun part that looks to my English-only brain like it rhymes "nun." The name is very nice sounding, but doesn't look nice to me without the O.Grazyna is lovely too. It's new to me and I'd have to be taught to say it aloud, though, and that always makes me feel a little distant from names, like I can't just say I like them the way I can say I like Joanna.I just don't seem to go for N names very much so Naira and Nephele are just ok. Cool names for other people. Nolwenn is a "no-" name, and I'm sensitive to that for some reason, so I don't like it. Talya is another first-initial problem for me ... I just don't really like a lot of T-names, they have a certain vibe for me.Alicia, Olivia, and Bella are good names - I'm overexposed to them, though, and don't find their sounds to be as interesting.I guess Talya and Nolwenn are my least faves, though I don't have a great reason not to like them.

Hi Perrine !!!That's a lovely list!! Let's see!Talya 8/10 the "dew" meaning is so sweet and delicate. The name itself is slim and smooth. It is silvery or pale green in my mind. Beautiful Hebrew name without being too religious.Isla 4/10 (Scottish/English pronounciation) 8/10 (Spanish pronounciation) - I love that it means "Island" in Spanish. Its sound in this language is so sensual and lively. It makes me think of the Caribbeans (not as 'holliday' but as huge cultural crossing, well unfortunately because of colonization and liberty) but also full of cheerful lifestyles. For the Scottish pr. I prefer some masculine names such as Lisle and Carlisle.Bella 3/10 this puts me off. Dunya (دُنْيا)
I choose this spelling with y and referred to the Arabic name for "world". 8/10. It Is very evocative. I found it in many texts.Naira 8/10 one of the most famous Indigenous names I know but still simple and melodious.Olivia 3/10 same for Bella: too overused, too trendy, too tacky.Alicia 6/10 once I used to like its sound but currently it is quite dumb.Nephele 6/10 old-favourite itself but as nefilim were supernatural beings I'd like to be careful on using it. Angels are more well-known so the risk to misunderstand their role or meaning is minor so they are more appropriate.

Joanna 6/10 old-fave but currently boring.Nolwenn 8/10 I love this name because of the French singer. I love folk music! One of her collaborations was for a tribute of "Dès que le vent soufflera" one of my favourite song ever. Her name makes me think of the ocean and wind. Rosalia 4/10 Dated. Boring. I currently like Roseline because it is a positive character (despite not a great one) of "La passe-miroir" where she is the chatterbox aunt but at least sincere, loyal and careful... I've already read the book one and I LOVE that series. Did you read it?

Hello!!I reordered your list in order of favorites to least favorite. So here we go~Olivia: Such a classic name! It’s pretty and timeless!*Favorite name.Alicia: I like how this name looks, I don’t know why it’s just appealing. I also love the sound of it. Nephele: So There are two pronunciations of the name, Neh-peh-leh or Nehf-ah-lee, I hope your talking about the second. It’s so unique! I mean, it’s mystical and out there but, definitely pretty.Isla: Wow, it’s such a pretty name! It’s just so short, and... Doesn’t seems like a name. I think this name is too mystical, like it belongs to a fantasy or something, not a real person. Joanna: Eh, it’s nice. It’s not too weird or anything.Talya: Is it pronounced Tal-ee-ya, or Tal-yuh? I really like Tal-ee-ya more than Tal-yuh, though the latter is still a nice pronunciation. That being said, I don’t really like how this name looks, it’s kinda ugly. Nolwenn: Nolwenn sounds so nice! And it’s similar to the name Olwen, which I also like. I think the only downside is that, it’s very strange to say and a bit silly. Naira: Boy, you sure love your -a names... Naira’s alright, unusual but alright. I could never picture it on a person, but it might work.Rosalia: It’s alright, it has a Rose sound which is always nice. My problem is that it has a lot going on. Rosa is fine, Rosalie is fine, but the two of them combined is overly complicated and clunky.Bella: Gosh... Could you find a more boring name? Bella is not only incredibly boring, but also IMO ugly. I know it means beauty, but it isn’t a very nice name to me.

DunjaD names are nice, and it's interesting.I like...Talya
Dunya / Dunja - less ambiguous with a Y, but I think it looks more dignified with a J - with Dounia, I want to pronounce the 1st syllable like 'dow'
Naira - I'd personally spell it Nyrah, though
Olivia - very common in the US currently
Joanna - I like Jo
Nolwenn - I think I like Olwen moreBella is my least favorite.

Talya: I love Talia but this spelling looks tryndee (though I know it's not).
Isla: Meh. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's such an airy, insubstantial sound.
Bella: Seems incomplete, and I'm pretty sick of it anyway.
Dunya: Not loving the sound but I guess I prefer this spelling. I can't get behind it as a full name, either.
Naira: Reminds me of Nair, the hair-removal cream.
Olivia: Love it.
Alicia: I don't care for it. The "leesh" pronunciation is so ugly and ah-LEE-see-ah is overly fussy. I do like Alice, though.
Nephele: I love it, but definitely wouldn't use it in English.
Joanna: Lovely and underused.
Nolwenn: Doesn't do much for me.
Rosalia: Gorgeous! Would you say rose-ah-LEE-ah or rose-AH-lee-ah? I like both but prefer the latter.
Grazyna: Kinda harsh, and I don't like how it looks. My favorites are Olivia and Rosalia.
