Re: Tell me...
List 1: Favorite: Bennett - really, this and Benedict are practically the only ones I like from the list (I don't care for most masculine B names, not sure why). Bennett comes out on top not only for the Pride & Prejudice association, but because it avoids having the "dic" sound in the name.Least Favorite: Barclay - whether pronounced like "bar" and "clay" put together, or like "bark" and "lee," but either way it doesn't sound like a name for people. Not to mention the Barclay brothers (and their bank, Barclays) are not the best associations.Combo: Bennett Balthazar
List 2: Favorite: Barbara - a lot of people perceive this as really dated, but I can see why it was so popular for so long. The way I say it, even if it's just a schwa sound I make sure that middle syllable is said: BAR-buh-rah sounds much more elegant / refined than BAR-bruh.
(If you'd asked me last year, I would've chosen Beverly as my favorite, but Barbara has recently usurped it as my favorite feminine B name.)Least Favorite: Bathsheba. Without question. I mean, there are a few names on here I really don't like (Bertha, Bastet, Beulah, Birdie...), but come on: Bath. Sheba. (The original Hebrew form, Batsheva, is not nearly so bad as its Anglicization.)Combo: Barbara Beatrice***Please rate my personal name lists:www.behindthename.com/pnl/69381
