It didn't put Shakespeare off; all I think about is the Merchant of Venice character, who is remarkable even by Shakespeare's own standards. I don't particularly like the name - I find the sound unattractive - but that's got nothing to do with pigs!

I know the meaning but the name still has an aristocratic, historical, literarian and elegant vibe that is stronger than the meaning itself.

It puts me off. I think of pork.
