AdditionHi Klaus,Ylva is right, Bitten is a Danish pet form of Birgitte. It also reminds of the Danish vocabulary word bitte = 'bit'; Danish: lille bitte = 'tiny'.http://www.nordicnames.de/flick_b/Birgitta.html/ Satuhttp://www.nordicnames.de/

I think it is a nn for BirgitteBirgitte is the Danish form of Bridget. Gitte, Bitte and Bitten are nn for Birgitte."You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed." (Edith Södergran 1891-1923)
