Just for fun: What Is Your Hidden "Signature Name"?
Practically everyone has a personal motto or tag, or a favorite quote, or a favorite line or title from a song or poem.
Whatever those words happen to be which you hold dear to your heart, they also happen to contain a "hidden name".For example. I have a friend who has always dreamed of having a winter wedding, ever since she first saw the movie Funny Girl and was completely taken by the costumes in the Ziegfield Follies number. My friend chose the little poem recited by one of the Winter Brides in that number, which goes: "The Winter Bride is typified by Christmas, frost and fairies…"Anagramming the phrase "frost and fairies" gives us the Signature Name of: "Sofia Starfinder".So… Wanna find out your own Signature Name? Give me a few samples of the words that mean something special to you, and I (or maybe Pavlos) will see what hidden "Signature Name" name exists in the words.Important! In addition to giving me your favorite motto, song title, etc., but sure to let me know if you are male or female. :)-- Nanaea

Just back from a week in Brussels. Washed a lot mussels down with Duvel (nudge-nudge-wink-wink!) beer.So here's a bit from a Brel song:Et quand vient le soir
Pour qu'un ciel flamboie
Le rouge et le noir
Ne s'épousent-ils pas?

"Et quand vient le soir" = Tristan Dino L'EvequeA lovely, poignant song.And speaking of "do not leave me"... I was wondering where you'd gone off to, Pavlos! Trust me to pick a week to return when you're away. :(Hope you had a great time! Oh, and -- HEY! You should be 'gramming yourself. You're the one 'n' only Anagram King. :)-- Nanaea

Really, the timing was somewhat off sis :) I only hope you stick around more, or at least make more regular appearances; we may be trying to act cool, but our withdrawal symptoms are horrendous!
Brussels is a beautiful city, bad rap notwithstanding. Incredibly, it was sunny -- a pleasant change after 17 consecutive days of Athens rain. Though mainly on business, I did play some fun hookey. Visited a gallery you would have loved: a Belgian artist who paints dog (mostly terrier) faces on original 19th century portraits of members of the nobility. It was a howl :)
P.S. I may be king, but you rool!!!

My turn!Find me a name, Pavlos! :)THE SECOND COMING
W. B. YeatsTurning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Woa, I should read more Yeats!

Off topic, Nan...but have you SEEN Buckley lately? I saw him on a talk show the other night and was shocked. The man has become a dead ringer for the mummy of Ramses II (with a coupla extra chins). Honoured, I'm sure to be confused with you, Barbara and pleased to meet you. Hey, I wonder if we're around the same vintage, having the same first name and all. I'm a child of the late 1940's, so chances are you're younger than me. I take it that song was "I am a Rock"...is that the one by Simon and Garfunkel? Guess that dates me too! Regards...Barb
vote up1vote down
@BarbSorry, Barb, I'm from 1980, so not exactly the same vintage. Yes, the song is by Simon & Garfunkel. When I was younger and didn't have any records of my own yet, I listened to that "old stuff" of my father's. But I think, everybody likes Simon and Garfunkel, no matter what age. Men with guitars are simply touching. ;-)

It's addictive, Barb! LOL!
vote up1vote down
What fun! Perhaps you should anagrammatise "Simply Irrestistible" ...Et moi, I don't have a code that I can live by (BeeGees! That dates the lady ...) - prefer to make life up as it comes along - but although I'm an annoyingly cheerful person I have for more years that I can tell been singing two songs more often than any others: Yesterday (the Beatles - Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away, now it looks as though they're here to stay, oh I believe in yesterday) and Easy to be hard from Hair (How can people be so heartless, how can people be so cruel? Easy to be hard, easy to say No. How can people have no feelings, how can they ignore their friends? Easy to be hard, easy to be cold. Especially people who care about strangers, who care about evils and social injustice - do you only care about the bleedin' crowd? How about a needing friend?) Man, that felt good! Scramble the letters or not, as you wish - I'm going to have a good day!

Hi Nanaea,does it work with a motto in a foreign language, too? My motto is from a chorus of one of my favourite songs:
"Tänd ett ljus och låt det brinna, låt aldrig hoppet försvinnna. Det är mörkt nu men det blir ljusare igen."That means
"Light a candle and let it burn, never let hope disappear. It's dark now, but it will get brighter again" (well, something like that...).It's quite a long motto as well, isn't it? ;-)Regards, SatuPS: Female!!!
