This name is honestly underrated. It should be just as well revered as Ava, or Eva, since they are so similar. This is a gorgeous, short, and simple name and I'm waiting for the boost in popularity.
I like the way this name looks and sounds. I find this name so much better than Alexis simply because I hate the name Alexis. This name is more feminine and softer than the verbose Alexis. If you want something with a little more flair than Alexa there is also the just as beautiful name Alexia.
Whimsical, timeless, gorgeous, wow a perfect name for a baby girl all the way to grown woman. Reminds me of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (no surprise there) and there are no problems with that.
This name sounds very beautiful. I believe it would be appropriate at all stages of life and there are numerous nick names to choose from. (Al, Alo, Lo, Lodi, Dolly). It gives me a whimsical feel and makes me think of a mermaid.
I'm not the first and I'm certainly not going to be the last saying this. Famous Amos is the first thing that comes to my head but that does not deter from the fact that Amos is a great name. I love Amos, it's just as sweet as the chocolate chip cookie :) for real, I like the name Amos- enough joking.
This happens to be my favorite spelling of Annaliese. It reminds me of the beautiful princess in the Barbie movie 'The Princess and the Pauper'. I absolutely love the sound of this name and it is the best form of Anna variants.
I used to think this name was so old fashioned and adorable. Now all I think of is Archie Andrews from the Netflix drama Riverdale. This name is now not usable and is far too associated with his character. I'm bothered because I really liked the name Archie. Please help me get over Archie's character usage.
This name looks really cool and has a really cool meaning, but it doesn't really seem like a name for a person. It sounds more wordy. Avalon is still nice but I think Avonlea sounds more namely.
I really like this name but it's a little too simple for my taste. Don't get me wrong I actually like this name and it is good for either sex. Whenever I hear this name it makes me think of the dog with an amputated leg from Clifford the Big Red Dog.
Kind of seems more like a word/title than a name. Caspian reminds me of the character from the chronicles of Narnia. I'm gonna give this a one star out of five stars. I used to like this name, but I realized I only liked the idea of this name.
I adore the cute meaning of this name as simple as cherry. The way this name rolls off the tongue is so feminine and formal sounding. I do believe this to be a magnificent name for a girl.
I agree this name is so pretty pronounced KLAR-ihs. But kla-EES is the adorable and bubbly and classic pronunciation. You can't go wrong with this name.
Even though Conan and Cohen are different names I still think of Conan O'Brien when I hear Cohen. It also sounds a little too much like a last name but that's the trend these days so I can't control. I will add that I like this 'last name sounding' name more than others.
A very unusual name. I feel like these names from Greek and Roman times would sound weird in today's modernized world. I'm unsure about this being used as a first name. I hear this and think about the Icarus and Daedalus story.
I know a guy with this name at my school. He is named Delano (duh-LAH-noh) and he is a really cool guy. Dresses very fashion forward but with the other pronunciation (DEHL-uh-noh) I think of FDR.
This name is beautiful! It makes me think of a mermaid from a Barbie movie with blue hair. I think this name would be so cute for a young girl and endearing on an older lass. I think one couldn't do wrong with this name.
I absolutely love the sound of this name. I've told all of my friends about it and they think it is atrocious :( They believe it just sounds like gibberish and is a mouthful. I guess I can see where they are coming from but I love all of the seemingly endless possibilities for the name. Des, Desy, Mo, Mona are my favorites. I would also like to mention I believe a kid/person deserves a "full" name. For example I don't find it right to name a kid Lizzy when they could have a full name such as Elizabeth.
I have a thing for names that start with 'D' but this name is another one of those names that I love the idea of and love the way it looks, but with more thought cannot imagine a person named this... it would be weird.
This is by far the prettiest spelling and most appropriate spelling of Devon. I think it looks gross spelled Devin. I also quite like this name more for a girl than a boy. But still a great unisex name. Might I add I don't like pronouncing this as "deh-VAWN" since that sounds pompous.
I have realized I only like this because of the association with Eartha Kitt. Other than that is this really the best name? No. It does remind me of Bertha now and I don't like Bertha so now I kind of don't like Eartha.
The only thing I think about when I see Easter used as a name is the Sheryl Crow song 'Everyday is a winding road'. Albeit I love Sheryl and the song but Easter would be a dang cool name if you ask me. Easter also happens to be my favorite holiday.
I think this name is mysterious and pretty. It does sound a bit harsh but beyond that I think it is so unique, and I love unique names. My friends think this name sounds bad. They believe it sounds too wordy, like a mouthful- a mixture of Ethel and Mildred they are like BLEH! Now I'm not so sure about it as a first name in today's world but it is a good middle name.
The first thing that comes to my head when I hear Etta is the famous singer Etta James. Other than the fact that Etta is an underappreciated and underrated name, it is a very sweet name that should have a higher ranking in terms of popularity.
I agree this name is better than Ava or Eva. I think this is a really good middle name because it's short and sweet sounding. I think it would be awesome if more people were more daring and used Eve as a first name.
I really really love the more rare names and somewhat dislike the popular names because they are over used and don't seem special to me so Everild is a beautiful name to me but am having second thoughts about it so I most likely wont use it but if you are expecting and like this name you should definitely use it! :)
This used to be my favorite boys' name ever! I still believe Ezekiel to be a great name and Zeke is a cute nick name. If you are religious this a great biblical name to use because it's not as popular as Noah but still has the element of religion involved!
This name makes me think of a prince. I don't recall knowing a princess named Farran but this name sounds so regal, but I don't think it sounds presumptuous, a very good quality. This name is masculine sounding but if you want to be trendy you could name a girl this too.
I have a hopeful prediction that Germaine will rise in popularity in the coming years. It is trendy to use old fashioned names for their children nowadays and Germaine will eventually have its time in the limelight. Germaine is a strong name for a dignified girl.
Godiva is a very strong, independent, sounding feminine name. Allowing more though I think it would be adorable on a young girl and always work at every stage of life. Some may avoid this name because 'God' and 'Diva' is in the name.
Reminds me of Hansel and Gretel. I think this name should be just as popular as Greta because they are virtually the same name, just with a more feminine spin. Cute.
I tend to think this name is pronounced (gwehn-AY-ehl) which I don't believe is correct but regardless I think this a great alternative to Gwyneth or Gwendolyn. This name simply looks beautiful!
I like Hugh but I cannot picture it on anyone younger than 45. It just doesn't seem right. Hugh reminds me of Hugh Jackman. A nice soft name for a boy.
I think of the story Icarus and Daedalus. That is the only association I have and this name is a bit out there if you know what I mean. I think this name would be a no. It has 'ick' at the beginning :/
Update: this name will no longer belong on my name list because this name does not seem like a real name to an uncultured American like me. This name would not be appropriate for me to name my child. I do like the meaning though!
For some odd reason I just really like this name. Considering, just considering, to use it. Ihintza reminds me of Heinz ketchup. I like it better for a girl strangely.
I'm sorry if I offend anyone with my impression but this name sounds exotic. I think this name sounds hippie-ish and I kind of like that image. This name ages well but does not sound very professional. I like the way this name rolls off the tongue.
I love it when people have a unique beginning letter in their first name. This name is a perfect example of that and it is a strong yet beautiful name.
My name is Jasmine and in my school I only knew of 2 other girls named Jasmine. All of my friends call me Jazz or Jazzy. I am not ghetto nor rude to anyone. I really like my name but is saddens me to see the comments of these people. My dad wanted to name me something musically so Jazz was a good option for him. Otherwise I would have been named either Stephanie, Savannah, Cami or Cali. A lot of people love my name at my school. At least I'm the only Jasmine in my grade(thank goodness). I really do not like the other various spelling of Jasmine though. And I also love the smell of Jasmine. Sometimes it's embarrassing to watch Aladin though... Talk about sensuality.
I enjoy the sound of Jasper and it reminds me of the vampire character from the Twilight series, although I unfortunately now believe this name is much too trendy for me to ever use.
I used to think this was the preferable spelling of Joan but I was mistaken. I have taken a poll asking if this was an acceptable spelling and the majority was no, so I'd recommend spelling Jone as Joan.
This is currently my favorite boy's name because it is so strong sounding but not very common. Everyone knows this name but I have never met someone with this name. When I hear this it reminds me of Julius Caesar and Orange Julius. The most common nickname is Jules which is cute for a little boy and hot for an adult or teen (I am a teen).
This name is very pretty. It's a shame I have never met anyone with this name but all the more reason to use it! There are so many wonderful nicknames that can be spun off of this and it sounds good standing alone as well. My extent of this name is from when I played nintendogs I bought a golden retriever and named her Juniper. Wow just saying Juniper in my head makes me feel light and happy.
This is my friend Hannah's middle name since her grandma's names were Karen and Corrine her parents combined them to make Kayrn, sadly she didn't know how to spell it until 2nd grade.
Update: this is definitely not in may name list anymore due to the fact that I wouldn't feel right using this Sanskrit name as an American with no relation. Another problem I have is when I say this name all I think about and hear is 'cavity', not a good association for me as an aspiring dental hygienist.
I really love this name if I adopted a child from a different country but if not I still love it and am thinking about naming this my second girl!... KAVERI.
I think this name is really cute! It seems appropriate for a male at any stage in his life without sounding too babyish or old mannish. This name is also better sounding than Kurt/Curt. Pretty simple but not boring.
This is a girl's name. I'm sorry but this does not at all seem like a boy's name. I'm sure Lacey was a sort of surname from back when but times have changed. An adorable girl's name this is that makes me depict a really bubbly, happy girl. Please refrain from spelling this name any other way, that's just asking for eye rolls. -edit- I forgot to add I cannot imagine this name for an old lady it kind of makes me cringe but change my mind. I want this to be okay on a old lady.
This name definitely seems more suited for a female. This is just like another nature inspired bird name like Robin or Wren. This seems like a good name if that is your style.
I must have a thing for one syllable boy names. I really enjoy how for a boy Leigh is soft and on the more delicate side of sounds. I also think Leigh would be a nice name for all ages and stages of life. I think Leigh is more suited for a male while Lee is better for a female.
Wow this name just sounds so handsome. I have come to find that a guy with a soft sounding name is more attractive versus a harsh sounding name. This seems like a great name (first or middle) and reminds me of the awesome band Kings of Leon.
This name is altogether tough and cute sounding. Reminds me of a good pair of rugged blue jeans. Unpopular opinion this name is fitting for females too. I had too remove it from my list because it is becoming too popular. Still a great timeless name.
This has been a favorite name of mine for quite a long time now. I love how it is a much less common variant of Lily. Although I prefer this name being spelled Lillith, I just think it is so gorgeous. Unfortunately I tend to gravitate to the "ill-fated" and "negative connotation" names. My friends dislike this name and one said that it sounds like you have a lisp if you pronounce it :( I still don't care, it is so gorgeous.
Super duper hippie name. I agree with the comment below me there are better floral names out there if that's the vibe you want. But I ain't stopping you if you use this because Lotus sounds so unique.
As interesting and peculiar this is to me I like the sound and rarity of it. A cool athletic boy name or pompous butler sounding name. I have no issues with Lyle. Sometimes soft sounds for guys are really nice in comparison to harsh sounding names.
I thought Lys was pronounced (LIHSS) and not (LEES) which downgrades it for me. I do love its simple look and spelling. Perfect for the short and sweet name trend.
I see this name and what comes and stays in my mind is Medusa. I honestly think a person could find a better name to name their child than Madara, but it's unique, I will attest to that.
Cooler and updated version of Madison. This name should be more popular for real. Imagine being named Madelief! Like that just sounds so strong! And the meaning is so sweet, just simple daisy- I love it.
I like this name because it is so delicate sounding and as a way to honor my favorite artist Claude Monet. The older I get the more pretentious this name sounds unfortunately.
I prefer the spelling Nephelie and its way better than the popular Natalie and love the meaning and when I was younger this was my choice of goddess for my Greek play.
I have never met anyone with this name. It seems more like a unique version of Kevin or Devin and it also reminds me of Neville. Neven does not leave a positive image in my head for some reason, maybe because it is honestly just boring, starts with the same sound and ends with the same sound.
A very nice sounding name that happens to be ultra popular and I like it?! I'm not one for trendy names but this one makes the cut. I don't know what quality about this name makes me like it but oh well. Oliver only makes me think of the nerdy character portrayed by Mitchell Musso on Hannah Montana.
I picture a shy quiet girl with this name. Owena sounds very reserved and not outspoken. I do feel that the stress on the syllable sounds awkward anywhere and thus this name sounds kind of awkward.
I just found this name on Pinterest and just suddenly grew a huge love for Reid! I don't know what just happened to me but I now think this is my favorite boy's name. No hesitance there.
So classic and sweet. At the top of the best diminutive of Rose. Never doubt if this name would not be okay because it is more than okay- it's perfect!
A combination of Rose and Lynn for a match made on earth. I adore this name and first heard about it in a beautiful song called Roslyn by Cullen. I recommend giving it a listen and you will fall in love with this name just as I did. This name is classic but not worn out sounding, making it a great name to use.
Saskia is exotic to my American eyes and ears. I think it is so beautiful and melodic. I think Saskia would be a name that is suitable through all trials, tribulations, and stages throughout life.
I think this name is so sweet and simple. I believe it has a classic feel and is timeless. A good nickname for Shannon could possibly be Nonie/Noni (pronounced NOH-nee).
Shauna is a very decade sounding name. I don't find it to be suitable for a baby or child. It sounds like a rough name trying to sound soft. Even with all of the negative points I have brought up I like it. There's something about it that sparks my interest and intrigues me. I'm not going to lie though, there are names better than Shauna.
I think Shiloh is so cute for a young girl or boy for that matter. But the older a person gets with this name the more childish it sounds. I do think this is a perfect name for a pet :). I believe this is the best and should be the only appropriate way to spell Shiloh.
I have liked this name ever since I discovered a Scottish skin care company with this name in the title. This name sounds very beautiful but being an American with no relations to the origins of this name I don't think it would be appropriate for me to use it. Also being American people would get very hung up on how to correctly spell or pronounce this name.
I prefer Viola to be pronounced (vee-OH-luh). Gorgeous and lovely and charming. Has an old fashioned element and antique beauty. Has a softer sound than Violet. Take heed of the charm Viola has.
I love nature so I love this name like The name robin As in Robin Wren Or Wren Robin But now that I think of it Wren Robin sounds like Red Robin so I guess Robin Wren is better.
Zephyrine does not have a defined pronunciation which would make it a confusing time in the US. Although I wouldn't know, I think Zephyrine would be a very beautiful name in its native France.
