Oh, please! You only hate Alanis Morissette because her genre of music is not what you love. You know, I've seen your other comments, and it seems you totally HATE anything that ISN'T electronic, ambient, or shoegaze. You are an EXTREMELY opinionated person, and definitely not in a good way!But as for this name, it's pretty good! However, I prefer it pronounced uh-LAWN-iss; I hate the other pronunciation. I would actually name my daughter after Morissette herself... unlike you.
For some reason I really like this name. Not sure why, but I'm pretty sure it's because it's taken from the Spanish word "amando", which means "loving". It's likely that I probably will use this name.
This is my mother's name. It's sweet, charming, and really does hold up to its meaning, "beloved". It really reminds me of a guardian, a caretaker, an overseer. Also, if you actually think Amy Lee is a bad singer, you probably don't believe in heaven.
Andrew is the name of my uncle, who gives me free money often. And who doesn't like free money? Overall this name is good, but I'd personally just use this as a middle name.
Earth to namers: not all people who name their babies take their meanings for granted. For example, why do people name their child Cameron even though it means "crooked nose"?As for Aries itself, it's a very powerful and dignified name. People who name their child this are not astrology nuts; they name their child because they like the name!
I really like this name! However, I prefer and visualize it on boys more than girls. Plus, I kind of laughed when I found out it meant "crooked nose". But I don't let meanings ruin a name... I just settle on the name itself.
This is a good name, but I’m very surprised that no one has ever commented here saying how cringy and bad Undertale is. (Not that UT is bad, just saying).
This name is absolutely beautiful. It rolls off the tongue surprisingly well, and it isn't too outrageous or outlandish. Plus, this is the name of my absolute best friend when I was in middle school. If I had a daughter I would name her this as a little "commemoration" for a really good friend.
I'm very surprised no one has mentioned Chris Cornell, the lead singer of the band Soundgarden. Aside from that, we was also the singer in the bands Audioslave and Temple of the Dog.
I never let the music (or name) be ruined for me by the actual artist him/herself, unless he/she has done something truly horrible. I don't think Courtney Love has done anything that bad, so I still like the name.
Dante sounds so awesome and cool! I'd just use this as a middle name though, because I was originally going to be named this, and it would be kinda awkward for me to... well, you know.
This is a fairly recent one: Dave is the name of Satina's father in the recent web series "Satina". Satina is a half-breed, as Dave is a human and her mother, Lucia, is a demon.
This is my middle name. This is also my dad's name, and my dad is... well, let's just say he's... extremely conservative. And whenever I hear this name, I think of people like him, which is not a real pretty picture. This is the reason why I'm kinda glad my first name is not this, and why I wouldn't use the name myself.
This name has to be one of the most beautiful names I have ever come across. I have used this name so much and so often that it would be all-natural for me to name my future daughter this! Overall, I highly recommend this name.
Because of my initial stupidity when I first came across this name, I thought Ezra was a girl's name. I can now picture this on guys. However, I still think that people are uber-sensitive when it comes to others saying that Ezra sounds feminine. And I don't know why this is... probably because it's a Biblical name. I dunno.
Such a cool name. Very masculine and powerful, and San Francisco's a nice city too. And besides, if you don't like the name you could always shorten it to Francis or Frank.
This is the British spelling of the name. There's nothing conservative, pretentious, heavy, or dated about it! In fact, I actually prefer this spelling over the bland and boring Jeffrey! I think that with your comment, you just insulted British people for the way they spell certain things. And that's not good!
I used to live in Greer, so when I found out it was an actual name, it seemed... weird to me. If I met a person named Greer all I would think about is that place.
I knew someone named Harrison, so I picture this name more as a first one than a last one. With that having been said, I know that this impression isn't the same for everyone.
This name sounds a little pretentious to me, but it has a ring to it. I actually see this name on all sorts of guys, mainly popular high school/college kids. I will not use this name, however, because it makes me think of that little brat from Sanjay and Craig. Also, please don't judge others about what they name their kids, ESPECIALLY in public. I guarantee if you actually do that, people will think about you: "What a tool."
Dissing the English language, huh? Gee, it's like racism... but with language! This name does NOT sound bad in English! It sounds very pretty in my opinion! I personally think that YOU should leave this name alone; it's not right to tell others what not to name their babies, ESPECIALLY if language is involved.
I really like this name for some reason. I'm not sure why, although it may have something to do with the sound or the associations I come up with. I would so use this!
Jared Fogle used to be the spokesman for Subway commercials starting in 2000. In 2015, however, he turned out to be a massive pedophile after being caught possessing child pornography. I really hope that this association won't forever ruin this perfectly fine name.
I agree with the "overused" part, but I disagree with your comments of Geoffrey being pretentious and stuck up. It's the British spelling; there's nothing wrong with it! Next time, do the Brits a favor and don't insult the way they spell their names!
This unisex name is unusual for me because while I picture most unisex names on one gender, I can completely picture either a guy or girl named Jordan and it would make sense. Probably because I've had classmates that had this name and were either guys or girls, I can picture it on (almost) anyone.
Kirby the lil' pink puffball... I love it! Ironically for the Nintendo character, it kind of sounds tough and burly. I would actually use this for my son (Although it may lead to allusions to the character. But hey, what can ya do? My name is Mario, so if I named my son Kirby it would start a long generation line of children being named after Nintendo characters, ha ha!).
Are you kidding me? You could have chosen any other reason to dislike the name, and you chose "not American enough"? Oh please! This sounds like it could fit in just fine in American society; it's one letter away from Kayla, for crying out loud! And yet... this name sounds so much nicer and elegant! I would recommend to you to find better reasons to dislike a name instead of calling it "not American enough"; you sounded so ignorant with that comment.
The way I see it this name will spawn two reactions: 1. Beatles fans who will tell the person how much their name is cool. 2. Non-Beatles fans who will torment the person with this question: "Are you bigger than Jesus now?"As for me, I come off as somewhere in the middle. I'm not a Beatles fan, but I definitely don't joke about Lennon's quote often. But due to the Beatles' large fanbase, the first reaction will happen most often.
A fairly recent one: Lucia is the name of Satina's mother in the recent web series "Satina". Satina is a half-breed, as Lucia is a demon and her father, Dave, is a human.
This name is actually a guilty pleasure of mine. It looks so weird, but at the same time it's so awesome! It also reminds me of Ludwig Von Beethoven, the talented yet strange composer, and Ludwig Von Koopa from the Super Mario games.
My name is no joke! My name is awesome. I was named after my great uncle Mario who was Italian, and not the video game character. But hey, it's better than being named after a movie character (to which my sister was named after)! Overall, I am very proud of my name.
So what I got from your comment is that all people that name their son Martin either name him after Martin Luther or Martin from The Simpsons. Is that correct? If so... assume much? That is such a broad and false assumption, I don't even know where to begin. Don't think to yourself that all people name their babies after someone or something. Parents can choose a name just because they like it!As for the name, I wouldn't use it myself, but if I did, I certainly wouldn't name it after the two you've just mentioned! I would choose the name because I just like it!
Geez, you created your account just to talk trash about this name? Wow. All I can say is... wow. That is the farthest I've ever seen someone go on this site just to say that they don't like a name. But as for my opinion, I think the name Maxwell is very nice! It makes me think of a strong-willed boy with a heart of gold. I'm also using the name for the main character in a book I'm writing, and I think it fits him really well.I appreciate the effort, and I know opinions exist, but please don't go this far to basically tell people with the name Maxwell to buzz off, so to say. It doesn't leave a good impression, especially on this site.
Everyone is thinking of our current First Lady when this name is heard. Although I don't hate Melania Trump, I feel extremely bad for her. I hope the association will fade; this name is quite alright, although I much prefer Melanie.
Why is this such a rare name nowadays? Out of all the people my age I've met, only one of those people has the name Michelle... and it's just their middle name! I guess people just thought it was too common, so people started to use it less. But that means that you won't get chastised if you name your child this, as it's not common anymore!
This is quite a cool name; it's starting to grow on me. It also reminds me of the song "I Can See For Miles" from Rock Band 3, a game that I played a lot when I was younger.
This name is alright. It has a sort of ring to it. However, this name now reminds me of the character from Deltarune, and I don't like her. As a result, this name now bums me out.
This is actually quite a good name. It sounds so serene and sophisticated. Just be sure your last name isn't "Man" or anything similar, or else you'll get the "Ocean Man" jokes.
I would have to disagree with your comment, because...1. Katy Perry is actually a very decent songwriter! Plus, she's not as popular now as she was 10 years ago. 2. Perry the Platypus is awesome! Everyone loves Agent P! (Well, almost everyone. But my point is, everyone would love the association.)
I would like to withdraw the previous statement that I have made earlier. As it turns out... Perry the Platypus is awesome! But I have to admit... I'm not sure if I'd use this name (or as a first name at least). On the other hand, the connotation's cool! But I'm not sure if by the 2030s or 2040s it will stick around. But Perry's a cool name nonetheless!
My mother has told me often that if I was a girl I would've been named this. My sister is named Sydney, so female me and her would go together as... Syd & Sam! (but anyway, this name is cute. I like it.)
Well, I'm about to say this, and I think it's true for most names: associations don't last forever unless that association has had a HUGE impact on the world. With so much hate for Undertale going around just because of its fanbase, sooner or later all of the hate will die down and nobody's going to talk about it anymore. Only then will it be perfectly safe to name your child this, even if you didn't name him after Sans the Skeleton.I find this name to be cool, and I like it even more because of the skeleton himself. I'm actually low-key considering this. And yes, I do know that "Sans" means "without" in French... but not everyone lives in France, now do they?
It's such a shame that political views are being used to make opinions on basically everything else, including names. All we need to do is set politics aside and look at the thing and only that thing itself. As for this name, I find it quite attractive. I can picture this name perfectly on a wide variety of little girls and older women. Does this mean that I am liberal? No... it just means that I really like this name!
I really like this name. Because of The Big Bang Theory, it makes me think of a socially-awkward and adorable genius, and that's why I would totally use this name myself.
Whenever I hear this name I picture in my mind an anthropomorphic slime girl for some reason. That doesn't mean I will not consider this name for my daughter, though, because I actually like this name.
I really like this name. Makes me think of Spencer from iCarly, so I totally imagine this name on boys. Spencer on girls sounds kind of... wrong to me.
This name is such a guilty pleasure of mine, it's crazy. However, due to these comments, I might either use this as a middle name or use a name like Sunita as a first name and have Sunny as a nickname.
A little (kind of) extension to my previous comment: I love this name. It's very cute for a child, and as an adult the person can always go by the name Susan. It also fits all kinds of girls, ranging from those who are cute and those who are cool. I liked this name in the past, but the Deltarune character has really made me love this name even more.
This is my sister's name, and she was named after Sydney Ellen Wade, a character in the movie The American President. My sister is thoughtful and righteous, albeit she now has a low patience level for certain things. I personally think this is a nice name, despite the somewhat unknown meaning.
Why are people hating on this name so much? This name is gorgeous! Even the flow of it... it sounds like leaping waters... just like the meaning! I'm not sure about the Tallulah Bankhead association... but if I could put it aside I would be more than happy to use this name!
I'm actually very compelled to name one of my sons Toby or Tobias and have his middle name be Fox, after the legendary indie game developer himself, Toby Fox.
I love this name. I mostly picture this name on tomboys and cool goth girls. The fact that I watched Phineas and Ferb as a kid probably helped sparked those thoughts.
I used to be totally attached to this name for some reason. I still like it, however, and I think this name fits all kinds of girls ranging from cute to cool. As a result, I highly recommend it!
But as for this name, it's pretty good! However, I prefer it pronounced uh-LAWN-iss; I hate the other pronunciation. I would actually name my daughter after Morissette herself... unlike you.
