Meaning & History
From Andalusia, the name means “wild olive tree.” It is used to refer to an olive tree that grew from seed instead of being grafted for cultivation. Also used to refer to a breed of olive trees used for rootstock in the region. Currently olives from acebuches are used to make artisanal olive oil. Berber origin.
