On a Japanese person I like it. Otherwise it just reminds me of aioli.
The spelling is so satisfying to me, just vowels. Plus, it's short and easy to pronounce.
Three vowels... what could go wrong, right? I do like the meaning though.

My older sister is naming her daughter this. I think it's lovely. But I've never heard of any boys called Aoi either.
Well, what a nice name! There are so many nice Japanese girl and guy names out there... 90% of them really, truly are beautiful!
