I've only ever seen one person with the name Dustin. I find it somewhat humorous because I think of dusting, but I really like the name. I don't find it as common as other names and after seeing the guy who has this name at my school, I've become fond of it. It really does suit him; he has very dark hair and eyes I tend to get lost in. I think if you're going to name yourself or your child this, you absolutely should!

My son's name is Dustin. He's a rough and tumble, sweet, big-hearted, outgoing, adorable 10 year old with dark blonde hair and hazel eyes. It's cute because it's not as overused as Justin but it is still a strong-sounding male name. We call him Dusty as a cute nickname but not all the time. When he was a toddler, I called him my little Dust-bunny and Dustbuster as nicknames. He loves his name and nobody's ever made fun of him for it.

I love the name Dustin, especially when Dusty is used as the shortened version. Ray or Raymond work well as a middle name. This name is ruggedly sexy, handsome, manly, playful, strong, kind-hearted, iron-willed, and down to earth. A true "good ol' boy's" name.

My name is Dustin, I was born in '89, I'm twenty six. As a child I disliked my name, though luckily I've never been called "dustbin", and can't recollect ever being teased for it in school, or anyone ever expressing their distaste for it. I have been complimented on it from time to time.
It seems people either love it or hate it. It's grown on me over the years and I really like my name now.

I think about the name Dustin as being a rugged, country-ish name, but a pretty sophisticated name too. I prefer this to Justin, and I like "Dusty" for short. Definitely because my boyfriend's name is Dustin and he goes by "Dusty." :)

I can recall an old stable that I used to board my horse at as a child... there was a man who worked there part-time who bore this name. My young mind never failed to conjure the scene of a mother calling to her son, Dustin, and the son answering "I'm just dusting the table!"
Regrettably, future parents will need to square with the fact that this is an immensely easily stereotyped name.
That being said; I find it difficult to even consider it legitimate... such a revolting sound; such a revolting sight. "Dustin" is quite obviously lower on the professional spectrum, and seems like it would be difficult to age.

Personally I think that this is a GREAT name for a boy. It sounds more like a boy name than a girls. It really is masculine and it sounds strong. Instead of naming your son a girly name why not use one that's strong, masculine and boyish? That's what I think about the name Dustin. And it really doesn't sound dirty or dusty and I think that a nickname Dust or Dusty is REALLY cute. So I LOVE this name. If that helps naming your kid any. Sorry if it doesn't.

On the Amazing Race, (can't remember which season) two blonde girls that were best friends and former beauty queens were a team. One of them was named Dustin (horrific, I know) and the other Kandice. They also returned to race again in the Amazing Race All-Stars season. In both seperate races they girls came in second place.
