This name looks and sounds really unsophisticated and silly to me. Makes me think of anything related to dust.
I've only ever seen one person with the name Dustin. I find it somewhat humorous because I think of dusting, but I really like the name. I don't find it as common as other names and after seeing the guy who has this name at my school, I've become fond of it. It really does suit him; he has very dark hair and eyes I tend to get lost in. I think if you're going to name yourself or your child this, you absolutely should!

I personally have never had any experience on being made fun of with a name like "Dustin". I don't really see why some people are against it, I personally think it's a really unique name. Also, just for future reference, "Dustin" is not a girls name. Do not name your daughter "Dustin".
My son's name is Dustin. He's a rough and tumble, sweet, big-hearted, outgoing, adorable 10 year old with dark blonde hair and hazel eyes. It's cute because it's not as overused as Justin but it is still a strong-sounding male name. We call him Dusty as a cute nickname but not all the time. When he was a toddler, I called him my little Dust-bunny and Dustbuster as nicknames. He loves his name and nobody's ever made fun of him for it.
I love the name Dustin, especially when Dusty is used as the shortened version. Ray or Raymond work well as a middle name. This name is ruggedly sexy, handsome, manly, playful, strong, kind-hearted, iron-willed, and down to earth. A true "good ol' boy's" name.Don't let the fact that its pronunciation is reminiscent of the word "dusting" turn your nose up to this awesome name; instead, learn to embrace it! Sure the previous remark was raw, crude, and somewhat immature, but I wouldn't have it any other way! Life is plenty serious all on its own, enjoy its simplicities whenever they present themselves, don't get so caught up in formalities and an overdeveloped sense of propriety. After all, if you spend your life walking around with your nose turned up at everyone, you'll never see the world that's right before your very eyes.
My name is Dustin, I was born in '89, I'm twenty six. As a child I disliked my name, though luckily I've never been called "dustbin", and can't recollect ever being teased for it in school, or anyone ever expressing their distaste for it. I have been complimented on it from time to time. It seems people either love it or hate it. It's grown on me over the years and I really like my name now. It goes well with my middle name too, in my opinion. That would be Dustin Vincent. Anyway, if any parents are debating calling their son this, I can say they likely won't have any issues with it. I live in Canada, if that matters.

Dustin sounds really cute and handsome for a guy! I love this name! :D.

I wouldn't recommend this name. I feel like everyone's gonna think the person's name is Justin if they don't see it written on paper. Also, this name sounds like the word dusty. I feel like anyone named Dustin should have a twin brother named Crustin.
I think about the name Dustin as being a rugged, country-ish name, but a pretty sophisticated name too. I prefer this to Justin, and I like "Dusty" for short. Definitely because my boyfriend's name is Dustin and he goes by "Dusty." :)

This name has never appealed to me.
While I have also always intensely hated "Justin," "Dustin" is unspeakable.I can recall an old stable that I used to board my horse at as a child... there was a man who worked there part-time who bore this name. My young mind never failed to conjure the scene of a mother calling to her son, Dustin, and the son answering "I'm just dusting the table!"Regrettably, future parents will need to square with the fact that this is an immensely easily stereotyped name.
That being said; I find it difficult to even consider it legitimate... such a revolting sound; such a revolting sight. "Dustin" is quite obviously lower on the professional spectrum, and seems like it would be difficult to age.
Hate it. I can't help thinking about a dirty little boy. I have never liked this name.
I actually prefer Dustin to Justin. Maybe because I've met tons upon tons of Justins.

The kind of name that looses its coolness with its uniqueness. Cool historical name, but now overuse has made it a cheap version of 'Justin'.
I know that for a teenager I'm rather old-fashioned, but I *adore* this name. It is tied with Tristan for me (although those two names could not be used together). :(

I like this name a lot by ear, but when I look at it I'm reminded of the popular name "Justin", which I don't mind too much, but still. I don't care that it sounds like dust though, I find that nice, almost like Cinderella being like cinder. It's fitting name for a humble person.
I love the name Dustin. It is a very boyish name, and seriously, DO NOT NAME YOUR DAUGHTERS DUSTIN. IT IS A BOY NAME. Trust me.

This name is really sweet. My husband says it looks like a pregnant woman picked up her ringing phone and when asked what she was doing she replied, "I'm justa Dustin'. Oh hey, that's what I'll name my baby." But I still like this name a lot, despite his pregnant phone comments. Oh well.
I like this name for a boy. Parents, please don't name your daughters this! It's far too masculine.
Well I have mixed opinions. They say what you like should not be altered by others but I know someone named Dustin and he isn't my fave guy. But it's a good name.
Personally I think that this is a GREAT name for a boy. It sounds more like a boy name than a girls. It really is masculine and it sounds strong. Instead of naming your son a girly name why not use one that's strong, masculine and boyish? That's what I think about the name Dustin. And it really doesn't sound dirty or dusty and I think that a nickname Dust or Dusty is REALLY cute. So I LOVE this name. If that helps naming your kid any. Sorry if it doesn't.
I love this name. Especially the pet forms 'Dust' and 'Dusty'. It's very informal and funny, but sounds nice. I like the roughness.
On the Amazing Race, (can't remember which season) two blonde girls that were best friends and former beauty queens were a team. One of them was named Dustin (horrific, I know) and the other Kandice. They also returned to race again in the Amazing Race All-Stars season. In both seperate races they girls came in second place. They wanted to be the first all female team to win the Amazing Race, but they did not, although they came quite close.
Cute name. ♥

I personally love this name. I have two second cousins, one on my paternal and one on my maternal side of the side. I think it is a strong, but rugged name. I think it's horrible that people name their girls this. I do not like ambiguous names. Soon we'll be hearing boys named Mary and girls named Mark.
This name is awful, especially when it sounds like dustbin.
I don't think Dustin is such a bad name, there are definitely a few worse ones out there.

Dustin sounds like a name for a really popular highschool boy, who's a jock. I think a good middle name to go with Dustin would be Ray. Dustin Ray.
Dustin doesn't seem like a good name, it sounds too... dusty. Makes me think of a dirty boy. Besides, it seems pretty dated to me, makes me think of the 80's.
