Meaning & History
Originally the name was Nolofinwë, meaning "wise Finwë" in Quenya. Fingolfin is the Sindarin translation, with Finwë added to the front of the name.Fingolfin was a Noldorin Elf in Tolkien's 'The Silmarillion'. He was the older son and second child of Finwë and Indis. He became High King of the Noldor after the death of his half-brother Fëanor.Fingolfin traveled to Middle-earth with his children and set up a kingdom there. He was later slain in combat.
