Japanese transcription of the name Cattleya. Cattleya comes from a tropical American orchid genus with purple, pink or white flowers that is a popular greenhouse plant. It was named after the British botanical patron William Cattley (1788-1835), whose surname means "person from Catley", Herefordshire and Lincolnshire ("glade frequented by cats").

Elite Four Caitlin from Pokémon Platinum, Black, White, Black 2, and White 2, who is also known as Cattleya/Katorea (カトレア) in the Japanese versions is a fictional bearer of this name.
