The name Khufu is a short form of his full name Khnum-Khufwy, meaning "Khnum is my Protector".Pharaoh Khufu (2642 B.C.-2573 B.C.) ascended the Egyptian (Kemetan) throne in 2606 B.C. he immediately gave the command to prepare the grandest burial place in all of history. A choice site on the Giza plateau was selected, and work began. When it was finished some twenty-three years later, it became the first of the Seven Wonders of the World, and the only one that remains today.
